Enamelling on Silver - Jewellery Workshop

Saturday 28 October, 10-4

£75 (plus eventbrite fee)

Vitreous enamel is a type of glass which is melted and fused to metal using heat. On this workshop, you will learn how to prepare silver and enamels and how to fire them using a kiln.

You will start by learning to apply the enamel to a small sample piece of silver (included), and how to incorporate fine silver wire if wished. You will then make a finished piece, with advice from the tutor about how to finish it.

This workshop is suitable for beginners to both jewellery making and enamelling, as well as for experienced jewellers. If you would like to work on a piece of jewellery that you have made, please speak to the tutor first. Jill.leventon@gmail.com / 07817517972

Tutor: Jill Leventon

Jill is an artist enameller – an experimenter, intrigued by the alchemy that exists between enamel and metal, and by the transformations that can occur at high temperatures.

Jill’s design inspiration is drawn from structure: including that which underlies landscape and the more formal lines of the built environment which form the basis of her surface decoration work.

She is an experienced teacher who enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with others and encouraging them to take the first steps in an exciting journey of discovery.
